The only hospital in Houston to be ranked among the Top 5% in the Nation for Overall Vascular Services.
Cardiac Catherization Labs
Cardiac Catheterization Labs are equipped to provide ongoing and Interventional Cardiology Care, associated Surgical Procedures, and a broad range of Diagnostic Services. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Emergency Room technology is capable of receiving 12-lead EKGs from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) providers while they are transporting patients to the hospital. This alerts the heart attack team of the patients impending arrival, thus saving precious minutes that can make a difference. For the third quarter of 2006, the median time was 78 minutes for a heart patient to be treated in the cath lab from the time he came through the door of the Emergency Department.
Cardiac and Vascular Surgical Services
Cardiac and Vascular Surgical Services include expertise in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts, Aortic Arch Repair, Valve Repair and Replacement Surgery, Stent Treatment for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Treatment for Atrial Fibrillation, Carotid Endarterectomy and Carotid Artery Stents, and related cardiology and vascular surgeries. Clear Lake Regional Medical Center was one of the first 12 facilities in the United States and one of the first two hospitals in Texas to receive approval for Carotid Artery Stenting from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Chest Pain Center
Clear Lake Regional Medical Center has received full Cycle II accreditation with PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Interventions) as a Chest Pain Center from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. We are the only facility in the Southeast Houston area to earn that distinction.
Clear Lake Regional Medical Center is the 2nd Chest Pain Center in Texas and the 4th in the nation to be accredited. The Society's accreditation process insures centers meet or exceed quality-of-care measures in acute cardiac medicine.
Comprehensively, our programs include a range of services that takes the patient through the entire spectrum of care, including diagnostic procedures, medical and surgical applications, nursing expertise for recovery and rehabilitation, and community support for recovering patients.
Among our Cardiac Services are:
Electrophysiology Services include insertion of both Biventricular and Permanent Pacemakers, Pacemaker Lead Extraction, Internal Cardiac Defibrillation, and Electrophysiological Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures.
Nursing Services provide specially trained nursing staff in the Cardiac Intermediate Units and the Coronary Care Unit, as well as in Cardiovascular Recovery and Cardiac Rehabilitation. In addition, the nursing staff in this area is dedicated to, and focuses solely on, cardiovascular services.
Community Services recognizes that patients needs do not end with their discharge from the hospital. Ongoing support and encouragement during the months following their treatment and surgery can be crucial to their recovery. Groups such as Mended Hearts have been established to provide this service.
Our Speakers' Bureau is proud to educate the community on cardiovascular disease prevention and awareness, and discuss the latest cardiovascular innovations. For information, contact Cardiovascular Program Director Kelli Nations at (281) 526-6125.
